Hello. Info please. I have a used lincoln sp-125 hd. I bought this for a upcomming thin-wall exhaust project. Thought id get in some practice for a while before i attempt the actual thing. By the way the 125 is pretty dam powerful. I am using .025 lincoln solid wire with NO gas as I dont have a tank yet.I bought a new lincoln SP-125 plus, probably 8-10 years ago, for packing upstairs on the back deck to do final installations on railings. The little guy does okay in the shop, but I quickly noticed that electricians just can't see the merit in running a #12 wire with a 20 amp breaker upstairs to the back deck of any house.It doesn't matter whether you measure amps or volts because it' the watts (power) that make heat. A 120V MIG welder turned all the way up will put out about 90A at 18V, around 1600W. A few days ago trying to weld-up a snow blade for a 4-wheeler, It did fine for about 10 minutes, about 3-4 ins. of bead at a time, then quit putting anything out.Do this, you have to the wire back on to the reel. Once the gun is off, take a small piece of mig wire, bent into a u shape and poke it into the two gun switch cables. This will bridge the switch circuit and make the welder feed. Also make sure that your drive roll tension is not to much, enough to move the wire but not enough to push it when you have the wire held at the gun.Cleanliness in a wirefeed insures problem free usability.
